The Lyons Den came into existance after a very dear friend introduced me
to the world of homeless, abandoned, neglected, abused and throw away animals of our society. To think that so many
animals were facing certain death without someones intervention was horrendous to me. So here we are, we may be small
(right now) but we have a huge heart and if we only save one...well that's one. Thank you Barb and Julie for opening
my eyes, hopefully I can open many others.
The Lyons Den is attempting to expand as we would like to help as many
animals as possible. We always need volunteers to help with various things and right now would love to find some foster
homes. We are located in Northwest Pennsylvania but will consider any home located anywhere. If this interests
you please see our "Getting Involved" page.

We Need Help Again!!!
We pulled four dogs from a shelter that, became very sick. One was a senior shih tzu that we ended up having to euthanize
due to her terrible medical issues. Her foster mom did everything she could but poor Olive could not even get up to
go to the bathroom. She had a severe case of kennel cough, a mammory tumor the size of a womans fist, a fatty tumor,
a bladder stone and respiratory issues from the kennel cough.A second dog is a young terrier mix, Buster. He too is
overcome with kennel cough and is being force fed fluids and a high protein meatpaste. Lastly two puppies tht seem to
be boxer mixes from the same litter who are also overcome with kennel cough. We have been to the vet numerous times
in the week and a half they have been with us. This treatment will be all over an above the normal vetting we complete
on our dogs. I have posted pics so you can see them.
We are in need of donations to help us over this so that we can continue to provide care for the other dogs. Even
a small donation would be so very helpful!

Mission Statement
The Lyons Den Rescue commits itself to finding safe, loving homes
for those animals that are in the shelter system. We will provide companions
that are healthy and compatible for those persons meeting the requirements set forth in our adoption agreement. In order to address the pet overpopulation problem the Lyons Den Rescue also commits to having all animals
spayed or neutered before placement unless a spay/neuter contract is in place. Also,
the Lyons Den Rescue will provide educational materials to the community at large to make as many as possible aware of this
problem.
Why Rescue?
I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter
the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their
eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal.
And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you
do something?" God was silent for a moment, and then spoke softly, "I have done something," was the reply.
"I created you."
