LET US INTRODUCE OURSELVES AND OUR PROGRAMS

Our Staff

My name is Karie Lyons and I am the founder of the Lyons Den Rescue. I would like to tell you about the rescue dogs I take in and their experience here. I have three great children, twin boys, 10, and a 7 year old daughter. My Significant Other lives with us and he lends tremendous support and help with the dogs that come in. We also have three dogs that are ours, Patriot (chow-shep), Stars (beagle-terrier), Bones (great dane/hound/boxer mix) and one lovely feline named Sheba (DSH). We have three additional rescues that seem to be here to stay but we continue to work with them hoping to eventually one day find a home for them of their own.  Most of our rescues stay with my family a minimum of two weeks before they are placed in adoptive homes or foster care.  This is so that I may assess their temperment and tolerance for environmental factors. Also that we may provide any needed medical care.  All of our dogs are spayed/neutered before placement if possible.  If the dog is too young there will be a spay/neuter contract in place.  Please see our adoption requirements for more details.
Currently, we are small.  We do have some very stable foster homes but always looking for more!

Owner Release Pets

It is difficult when you must give up a pet due to life circumstances. The Lyons Den will assist you, providing information that might enable you to keep your pet.  If at some point you cannot keep your pet for whatever reason, please let us assist you in finding placement.  We will take owner release pets but there are restrictions.  The animal must be UTD on shots and Spayed/Neutered.  Depending on the animal and breed there may be a fee. But your pet will be guarenteed a loving safe home.
We also may be able to find temporary foster care to keep your pet safe until a time comes when you may again take that pet back into your life.

The most affectionate creature in the world is a wet dog.

  • The Humane Society of the United States estimates that there are over 70,000 puppies and kittens born every twenty-four hours.
  • Every year over 20 million animals end up in a shelter
  • Of those animals 61% of the dogs and 75% of the cats are killed
  • Only two out of ten animals will find a really good home despite the best effort!
  • Of the twenty million animals that end up in shelters or the pound 25% plus are "purebreds."

PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS
