FRANKIE and CHANCE are two female mixes
that we rescued five and a half years ago as puppies. They were two in the first litter we ever rescued and are very
dear to us.
They sat and watched as all of their litter mates were adopted to
loving homes. At about 5-6 months of age, CHANCE came down with Parvo and was a very sick pup, she spent three days at the
vet clinic on fluids. Finally she was well enough to come home and Frankie was ecstatic.
About two months later a young couple just starting out decided they
would like to adopt CHANCE. They took her home and it was a good thing we thought. Unfortunately FRANKIE did not think
so, she missed CHANCE terribly. FRANKIE had always been a little backwards with her social skills and it seemed CHANCE must
have helped her.
Then, the couple called to say they wanted to adopt FRANKIE too!
We were so thrilled that the girls would have a wonderful home together!!
So, for five years they lived together. Then we received a call...Their
mom and dad were divorcing, there was no where for Frankie and Chance to go. It seems neither of them wanted to make
concessions to keep the girls. So after five years of knowing only one home, they were returned.
They are now up to date on all of their vet care and we also had them
groomed as it seemed they didn't have a bath since they left the first time!
Once they arrived, they were a bit anxious, rightly so, but after
sitting at the door, staring out, waiting for a few hours, for owners who were not to return, they finally decided to settle
in. It was like they never left!
They had been at the DEN for a couple months and then a wonderful
young couple who had adopted a senior dog from us asked if they could foster them!
FRANKIE and CHANCE are now in a foster home with a small chi mix,
a very very large senior lab mix and a cat. After about a week they have adjusted fine and are wonderful girls.
Completely housetrained and cratetrained. Their foster parents are working on basic commands and leash walking. Socialization
is key and they are trying to involve them in outside ativities where they will be in contact with different sights and sounds.
It seems the previous adopters did not take them anywhere so they are still a little skittish in new situations.
Although older dogs, now about 6 yrs. and in need of a patient home,
these girls are priceless, once they know you, they are devoted to the end. Affectionate and calm, the pair of them
are easier than some single dogs. Please if you can find it in your heart and home to allow FRANKIE and CHANCE one more last
opportunity to have a FOREVER home, e-mail us so we can talk about them further!
